Old
Business
2004
Banquet Financial Report
We have received checks from U.S. Army and Rumbo. Checks
still need to be collected from the following: CBG The Benefit Group,
Castro Family, Garcia 360, and UTSA. Joe said the Castro Family would
send a check soon. Maclovio Perez will provide contact information
for SYSCO and Kell Muñoz so invoices can be mailed. We need to
resolve the missing tables, collect the checks and close out the 2004
banquet as soon as possible. Maclovio mentioned we have a videotape of
event. He will get copy for Joe and the Cortez Family.
SAAHJ Holiday Party
Joe reported many restaurants were
already booked for Saturday, Dec. 4; however, he was able to get a great
deal from Marie Callender’s on Loop 410. We will have access to a
buffet for $5/person with happy hour drink prices. Guests are welcome
to join us.
All-Media Mixer
After much discussion,
the media mixer has been postponed until spring due to scheduling
conflicts.
2005 Gala
Mary will
serve as gala chair and has identified co-chairs to help with the silent
auction, registration and scholarship. Carol Schliesinger and Rebecca
Minjarez have agreed to co-chair the silent auction. April Alcocer
will handle the registration process. Fabiola Santiago will take care
of the scholarship portion of the event. Mary received proposals from
several downtown hotels. A decision will be made soon and a venue
will be booked for late July. A save-the-date e-mail will be sent to
the membership in December. Mary reminded the membership to start
thinking about nominees for the Henry Guerra Lifetime Achievement Award and
submit bios. An honoree will be selected at the January meeting.
Nominees should have a media/communications background. The 2005
scholarship application has been revised and is posted on our Web
