2005 Gala Update
Mary announced Time Warner
Cable is our Diamond Sponsor and will provide the table favors and a
substantial silent auction item. Sponsorship letters went out last
month to our honoree’s friends and colleagues. The McCombs
Foundation, Frost Bank, and SBC Communications have purchased corporate
tables. Table prices are $2,500, $1,500 and $1,000. Individual
non-member reservations are $100/person. SAAHJ members will receive the
special price of $45; members may bring 1 guest at the member price.
Five hundred dollars in donations have been received from invitees not able
to attend. There has also been a good response for silent auction items. Our
event is listed in the Express-News What’s Happening
calendar—online and printed versions. Mary did a radio interview
about the scholarship and submitted information to KWEX-TV for listing on
their Community Calendar. Fabiola will write a scholarship news release
and distribute it Texas Public Radio, Express-News, La Prensa and other
local media. Teresa Garza offered to publicize the scholarship and
gala on KVDA-TV. Teresa will interview Fabiola and possibly Francisco
Vara-Orta for the story.
High School Writing Contest
Hernán Rozemberg was not able to attend the
meeting, but let the board know, via e-mail, the topic is
Homelessness. He is working on a flyer.

Joe mentioned there has been
a change in leadership in the other professional organizations. He will
check about having a mixer in May.
